Honouring Heritage, Inspiring Change, and Leading the Way in Tech | Cohan Leon Daley

Updated: Jul 31, 2023

I am thrilled to announce that I have been selected for the Ecosystem Equality Partner Advisory Board (PAB)! This is an exciting opportunity for me to work alongside other Salesforce Partners in the ecosystem, providing feedback and guidance on Salesforce programs, products, and industry solutions.

I am particularly excited about this role because it allows me to showcase my passion for equity in the tech industry.

Reflecting on this achievement, I am reminded of the significant impact my Caribbean heritage has had on British society. It has been 75 years since HM Windrush arrived on British shores, bringing with it a people who have revolutionized the fabric of British life and culture.

I feel deeply honoured and proud of my heritage and the contributions my Grandmother, Grandfather, and Mother have made to British society, including our now-named Public Sector. Individually, they have made significant contributions to our NHS, Railways, Criminal Justice organizations, and have led the way in establishing houses of worship in North London.

They have also been instrumental in raising awareness of culture and implementing diversity and inclusion frameworks in their surrounding communities.

Having spent 25 years in the tech industry, I now have a unique opportunity to discuss diversity and inclusion as a first-generation Black British, neurodiverse trailblazer. It is an emotional experience for me as I express my thoughts and feelings, and I am eager to begin creating frameworks for change that align with other minority and non-represented groups. Together with the Salesforce Partner Advisory Board for Equality, I will focus on how Salesforce can lead the way in promoting diversity and inclusion.

My journey towards this board membership has included serving as a mentor and leader within the Black UKI Salesforce Talent Alliance Career Cohorts program. Now, as a member of the PAB, I couldn't be prouder or more inspired for the future. This opportunity allows me to contribute my unique perspective and experiences to shape the tech industry's approach to diversity and inclusion.

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to those who have supported me on this journey. To my ancestors, who paved the way for me, and to the Caribbean nations of Jamaica and Montserrat', I say thank you. Your rich heritage and legacy continue to inspire me. I am also grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with other passionate individuals and organizations who are committed to driving change and making the tech industry more inclusive.

I look forward to this new chapter, where I can use my voice and platform to advocate for diversity and inclusion within the Salesforce ecosystem. Together, we can create a more equitable and representative future.
