Why is 'Wellbeing' at work important'? | Lovina Gidwani

According to a 2016 research study by the 'Global Wellness Institute', the world's 3.2 billion workers are increasingly unwell. They are seriously 'struggling' and 'suffering' in their wellbeing by: being overweight, actively disengaged at work, buckling under excessive pressure at work; all this contributing to high levels of demotivation and unhappiness at work.

Employee wellbeing in India - some worrying facts.

Data from our 'Employee Wellness Quiz', completed by over 80 employees across Mumbai and Delhi has revealed some shocking symptoms:

62% have hair fall/thinning of hair

54% have trouble winding down/sleeping

50% have body pain/no energy

44% report that they have gone through significant stress

41% struggle with brain fog/mood swings

48% have difficulty in weight management

37% struggle with sugar cravings/energy crashes

Ignoring symptoms can cause damage to our health and wellbeing.

Despite being a wellness professional who understands the effects of 'Stress' on our bodies, I also suffered most of these symptoms and eventually succumbed to a severe burnout in 2007 due to my highly pressured job.

However, through that process I learned something invaluable: 'Symptoms' are just a way of signalling that we are not making healthy lifestyle choices. It was only when I learned to address the ROOT CAUSE of these symptoms that: I was able to shed excess weight, be stress-free, become fit, feel fabulous and feel at home in my body again.

My message as a 'Corporate Wellbeing Coach'.

I'm happy to be a part of a recent trend in which many futuristic companies are taking employee wellbeing more seriously. They are willing and open to implementing wellbeing programs actively. As for the employees- have interacted with hundreds of them - I can say with conviction that they are very appreciative and super responsive to preventive health and wellness tips at work. They desire innovative ways to feel joyful, happy and balanced each day at work. Finally, they are craving an inexhaustible life -force to feel vital from cell to the soul.

It's an honour, joy and passion for sharing my knowledge with them; to enable them to feel happier, healthier and more fulfilled each day.
