What defines a woman? | Dr. Supriya Kumaravelan

A “most respected woman” is someone who “doesn't need anything from other people (An Independent woman). She is the one who struggles for everything that she needs”.

If we turn the pages of history, we will find so many courageous women, who proved themselves with their hard work, dedication & perseverance. Rani Lakshmi Bai, Florence Nightingale, Indira Gandhi and so on.

A woman has numerous qualities which makes her very special like honest, passionate, positive, responsible, mentally strong. She has many roles…mother, daughter, wife, sister and mentor and she is doing all her roles very well in a very systematic manner.

But Is a woman is getting all the respect and honour which she deserves? Evil dowry system, physical, sexual and mental abuse, domestic violence, female infanticide and gender inequality.

WHERE IS HER EXISTENCE?

In spite of all difficulties, A woman is darting forward consistently day and night towards her goal. This is the most unique quality of her personality which makes her a special person.

Our society which is a male dominating society, must understand the feelings of a woman respect and encourage her. Focus should be on girl’s education & stop female infanticide (the deliberate killing of girl babies).

Educating a girlchild means, educating a family and a nation progress too. This is the key to success for any country. We talk about industrialization & globalisation, but if a woman needs women empowerment then no, country can’t progress. And the question of what a woman and her definition will always be the same and we will always fail finding answer for this.

She is the source of inspiration to man for high endeavour and worth achievements in life. She stands by him in all the crises as well as she shares with him all successes and attainments.

She is the person to whom he turns for love, sympathy, understanding, comfort and recognition. So, respect a woman.

A strong woman knows she has strength enough for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is in the journey where she will become strong.”
