Khushi was diagnosed with spina bifida, resulting in complete paralysis from the waist down, at birth. Unfortunately, her condition led to rejection from schools, and she was homeschooled instead. As she reached the age of 19, the responsibility of supporting her household fell upon her. Determined to make a living, she decided to learn video editing and pursued employment in that field.
However, her path to success was not without obstacles. She faced ridicule and mockery from people who doubted her abilities and made fun of her chosen career. Nevertheless, she remained resilient, working diligently and securing a stable job. Her determination and hard work paid off, proving their critics wrong.
Just when things were seemingly going well, life took another challenging turn. Her wheelchair got stuck in the step of a bus, causing her to fall and sustain injuries that required bed rest. During this period of recovery, she stumbled upon a Facebook post seeking para-athlete basketball players.
Intrigued by the opportunity, she decided to give it a try. With sheer dedication and daily training, she earned a spot on the team. Representing her state and eventually her country, she participated in various competitions and emerged victorious, bringing immense pride not only to herself but also to her mother.
Motivated by her accomplishments, she set their sights on new horizons. She took up powerlifting and excelled in competitions, further showcasing their strength and determination. However, her aspirations extended beyond personal success. She yearned to build a community that would uplift and empower individuals who, like them, have faced societal prejudice and discrimination based on factors such as gender, disability, or economic status.
To turn her vision into reality, she took the initiative to establish an NGO with the unwavering support of her sibling. Through this organization, she has organized special sports events for both married and single women, providing them with an opportunity to experience the joy of sports and fitness. Her ultimate goal is to level the playing field, offering equal opportunities to all individuals and creating an inclusive society where everyone can thrive.
