Teach For Green is a social organization that aspires to create a world where individuals and communities are ecologically mindful of their activities and practise sustainable living as a result of its ethos and beliefs. They want to create a movement of community leaders who will promote environmental sustainability measures. Surveys, focus group discussions, self and peer assessments, and proving exposure are all part of their process.

The objective is to instil in young kids leadership characteristics, responsibilities, and ownership in order to influence and establish a self-sufficient, long-term community. This would aid in catalysing a chain of development and societal change, resulting in a more effective approach to environmental education based on an experience learning approach.

TFG has spent the last year working to improve literacy rates in the Palamu area of Jharkhand by establishing a community library. In one portion of the community library, they have installed computers, laptops, and printers. Students will have access to the digital world thanks to wi-fi connectivity. This effort will aid in the development of digital literacy and access.

Adults will be able to use the library to learn about new technology and explore new possibilities. Because agriculture employs the majority of Chainpur's population, the library and computer lab will enable them to learn about new agricultural advances and provide better farming methods.

TFG also wants to make a difference for the women in this community.

TFG wants to establish a Livelihood and Training Centre. The training centre will teach the ladies sewing skills as well as the art of being a beautician. The livelihood centre will next supply or assist them in locating chances to put their newly acquired talents to use.

This effort will definitely have a significant impact on the lives of the women participating. They will develop confidence and learn new abilities as they put them to work. They will develop financial freedom and feel empowered as a result of the income they create. Additionally, the additional income will help their family's financial situation. Women will be able to supply their households with better food and facilities, resulting in improved health.

People will see these ladies achieve financial independence on a community level. Eventually, the community will recognise how women can contribute to society, and women's literacy rates will increase. Young girls will be permitted to complete their education and work. The district's family planning conditions will improve as a result of increased education and employment opportunities.

Another issue that they tackled was Uttarakhand's deforestation problems. Uttarakhand's woods are being lost in the name of development, timber, and the construction of bigger highways, with occasional forest fires exacerbating the problem of deforestation.

During wet seasons, landslides are widespread along roadways due to a decrease in vegetation. Forest fires not only resulted in the extinction of flora and fauna, but they also cost the state money. The glaciers are melting quickly and sea levels are rising as a result of climate change, while the hills confront water scarcity during the dry season.

Due to increased usage of plastic and littering of plastic garbage, which is a prevalent practise among the growing number of tourists to the hills, some places in small towns are now experiencing a major issue of plastic waste. Regrettably, municipal corporations are ineffective in dealing with these issues. MCDs simply dump mixed rubbish in the village's surrounding areas, resulting in increased tension between people and the municipality.

TFG's strategy entails identifying native flora and wildlife, comprehending their roles in the food chain and Himalayan environment, and developing such partnerships with students and the community. As a result, we hope to foster a sense of belonging to the rich biodiversity of the area by involving local schools, government agencies, and native people in the initiative.

This will ensure the program's long-term viability. Furthermore, we propose creating a comprehensive database of all local species, complete with scientific names, ecological significance, and medicinal value, which will serve as a learning tool for both educational institutions and local people.

They also suggested numerous alternatives for celebrating Diwali without the customary pollution this year. Making deliberate decisions to avoid purchasing plastic items, seeking for eco-friendly gifting items, and purchasing products with little to no plastic are just a few suggestions. Instead than using plastic bags for gifts, use eco-friendly wrapping paper. Diyas have a traditional feel about them, are environmentally friendly, and are a wonderful way to support local artists.

The colours used to make rangolis are also hazardous to the environment. Natural ingredients can be used to replace chemical-based colours. Flowers, turmeric, cloves, and other ingredients can be used for this purpose. There are many DIYs accessible on the internet that will not only make your rangoli more beautiful, but will also be a pleasant activity for everyone to do while celebrating the festive season. These colours can also be used during Holi, as they are safe and eco-friendly.
