Overcoming Obstacles: The Inspiring Journey of a Silver Medalist | Basappa Sunadholi

My name is Basappa Mayappa Sunadholi. I was born on 8th April 1995 at Goraguddi dist / Belagavi Karnataka in a middle-class family.

My parents were farmers, when I was 2 years old polio affected my left leg. I struggled so much to go to school. School to home distance was 5km.

I did not walk that much of a distance because of this I went to a physically challenged school at Hubbli. My school education finished with Hubbli.

Then I completed PUC at JSS College Gokak. BA at Lingaraj college Belagavi. Also, I completed M.A. in Economics at Ranichannamma University Belagavi.

Sports career

I am a professional wheelchair basketball player. I started a wheelchair basketball career in 2015. When I started, I struggled a lot to practice wheelchair basketball.

I did not have a wheelchair or coach. I had been going to Bangalore weekly once for practice. 2015 Dec I selected the Karnataka team and I represented Karnataka in the 2nd national wheelchair basketball championship held in Delhi.

In 2016 I went to U-23 Indian wheelchair basketball team selection camp in Chennai. I was selected for the Indian team, but I did not have a passport because I lost that chance.
