Journey of Generosity | Nonye Ekpe

Over the weekend, Nonye’s partner and she participated in the Journey of Generosity retreat in Sonoma Valley, California accompanied by several other couples and individuals in the United States. Her objective was to enhance her comprehension of God's love, seek His guidance on attaining wealth while living generously, and also learn from others.

Christina Hisel Boiles, our facilitator, did a remarkable job leading the sessions, and we gained insightful knowledge from our discussions. She realized that God's plan for her life involves trusting in Him and following His commands. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-15, we are reminded that whoever sows generously will also reap generously. She intends to give what she has decided to give, joyfully and without pressure.

As she traverses through life, she is committed to relying on God's guidance, striving to fulfil the great commission, and being a responsible steward of the resources entrusted to her. She will reject greed and abide by God's word, recognizing that every decision she makes should reflect a reverence for Him. Even during times of turmoil, she will seek opportunities to grow and learn from God's teachings.

Based on the wisdom shared through meaningful stories by Alan Barnhart, founder of Barnhart Crane & Rigging, and his wife Katherine, it became clear that the ultimate goal of our journey is to find fulfilment and satisfaction. Tim Mohns also shared a valuable insight that we should not let a perfectly good crisis go to waste. A crisis often presents opportunities for growth and transformation. Furthermore, we must understand that it is God's responsibility to care for what we have, and we can trust in Him to protect us.

Simplicity is another crucial aspect of our faith journey. We must acknowledge that God owns everything, and we should prioritize seeking His kingdom first. Giving is a matter of the heart, and it brings joy to both the giver and the receiver. By living generously and trusting in God's provision, we can experience genuine simplicity.

Overall, the Journey of Generosity retreat was a life-changing experience. She encourages others to visit the Generous Giving to learn more about living generously and seeking God's will.
