Home-Working or Co-Working? The present and the future | Ali Zandpour

I have heard a lot of people over the past few weeks say that coworking is dead and home working is the new thing. My partner and I are fortunate enough to each have our own home office a totally independent room can work without interruption or disturbing other members of the family, but yesterday for the first time I heard a colleague or better said an associate of mine express his frustration and anguish of this current situation and lockdown.

Not everyone is blessed to have their own independent home office or be living independently to be able to work from home without being disturbed, interrupted or interrupting another member. Many families who live in nothing more than a two-bedroom flat have turned dining tables into office tables with shifts, where constant interruption is inevitable, and concentration and focus during the day for more than five minutes is almost a thing of the past.

However, with the current situation and the likelihood of schools staying closed for the coming months, it is unlikely that many parents will be able to leave home so easily. The good thing is that this situation has proven to many companies, and individuals that one thing is possible. You can have remote meetings, you can work from home and be productive and you don’t always need to be at the office, you don’t always need to travel for hours to meet a person or attend board meetings.

I have saved hours if not days and weeks of traveling time over the past weeks which has helped me do many things I wouldn’t have been able to do before. I am forever grateful that this lockdown has forced us to think differently and to learn new things. Co-working will not die and will soon be back on its feet and today it has found itself a new sister, Home-Working, that will inhabit our lives for hopefully a brighter and cleaner future with less stress on the streets and quality time spent at home rather than in shopping malls.
