First Woman From Madhya Pradesh To Climb Mount Everest | Megha Parmar

Updated: Jul 20, 2022

I completed my schooling from Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir in the village. Graduated from Government Girls College. I was also a volunteer of NSS during my college days from where I got the platform. Then I did yoga M.Sc after which I am doing phd in yoga.

One moment that will always remain in my chest is that when I first climbed Mount Everest, my father was carried on the shoulders by the villagers and the entire village was turned around. It was a proud moment for me to be able to do something for my parents.

I will always remember to climb Mount Everest, at that time it seemed like I was at the top of the world, every mountain from there seemed small. Today I had a feeling of up and down. It as a moment that has connected with my life and which I can never forget.

At the time of Mount Everest, I had to become a hero from Zero, so this whole journey was very difficult for me. While scuba diving, my own guru used to demotivate me. The most frustrating is when your own coach makes you feel low. I was repeatedly made to realize that I didn't know English, so I couldn't learn anything.

Coaches were called from abroad for me for scuba diving. I had a lot of problems because of the communication gap. But there was a stubbornness in me that I must climb Mount Everest one day or learn scuba diving and wave the flag of my India and I did it. Such a turning point comes when you get frustrated, you just have to believe in yourself and keep moving forward.

Unless you become stubborn in life you will not be able to achieve something. You must have seen how a little child keeps crying until he gets a toy. In the same way, you will also have to stay engaged until you achieve your goal.

As a brand ambassador of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign I believe that education in smaller cities is the only platform for girls because of which they come out of the house. Girls can open 1000 doors for themselves by reading and writing. It is only after reading and writing that we realize what is right and what is wrong for us. By studying, girls become empowered in themselves, so it is very important for girls to study. I believe that studies are a ladder for girls only by climbing which they can reach their destination.

Though I have been inspired by many women, my guru's wife Ila Chaturvedi ma'am has impressed me the most. People say that women are the enemies of women, whereas it is not that I believe that women are the strength of women. My parents were in the village when my reed bone was broken and at that time Chaturvedi ma'am took full care of me. I am very grateful to Ila Chaturvedi ma'am, the credit for who I am today goes to her too.

Apart from this, I am also very impressed with Sushmita Sen. Despite being in such a dazzling film industry, she adopted two girls and is raising them so well without any appearances. My teacher has taught me that you can't help everyone, it's better to help a person than to help 10 people in a way that changes his life.

My message for all the readers is that. You are all unique. Don't think I have to be like it. Identify yourself. Say I'm unique, I can do it unique. Identify yourself, don't depend on the father, the husband, the son. The most important thing is that no work is big or small. Write poetry, write columns, train yoga, how much work there is to do in the world. Just do anything and be strong.
