A Journey of Transitions: Rediscovering Identity and Creating Brand from ground up | Joshita Bhasin

Home is often more than just a place; it is a feeling of belonging and familiarity that transcends geographical boundaries. As an Indian girl raised in Kuwait, the Middle Eastern nation has been her home for as long as she could remember. However, life took an unexpected turn in 2020, when she got married and relocated to Delhi, India, just before the COVID-19 pandemic engulfed the world. Little did she know that this journey would test her resilience, push her to lose & find her own identity and turn into a stepping stone for her to enter the world of entrepreneurship.

Leaving behind the familiarity of her home in Kuwait and embarking on a new life in Delhi was undoubtedly a daunting task. Adjusting to a new way of life as a married woman presented immense challenges & fears. However, the greatest test came in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic, which unleashed a wave of uncertainties not just for her but the entire globe.

The pandemic forced us into isolation, intensifying the feeling of being uprooted and disconnected from the world around us. With limited social interactions and restricted mobility, she found herself facing a profound sense of loneliness & homesickness.

The upheaval caused by the pandemic made it increasingly challenging to maintain a sense of identity. The sudden change of geographical location, adapting to a new role in life, the sudden disconnection from loved ones, and isolation from the familiar social circles in Kuwait, left her feeling uncertain & adrift.

One of the most profound challenges of the transition was the absence of close friends and family. The vibrant social life she had cultivated in Kuwait gave way to a sense of isolation in Delhi. However, as time passed, she found solace in forging new friendships and building meaningful connections in her new surroundings. Through community events and networking, she gradually built friendships that became an essential support system.

These new relationships not only helped her navigate the challenges of the transition but have also been providing a sense of belonging & a feeling of normalcy during this unphased transition.

Motivated by a desire to merge tradition with modernity, she founded Iditri Works. The brand aimed to source beautiful ceramic pieces from talented potters, personifying a fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary aesthetics. It became a personal mission to curate a collection that would reflect her vision while supporting the artisans who meticulously crafted these works of art. Through social media platforms and online marketplaces, she showcased exquisite ceramic serve ware sourced from talented potters.

The creation of Iditri Works has not only allowed her to channel her creativity but has also become a bridge between her cultural heritage and her present reality. It has enabled her to celebrate the traditions that shaped her upbringing while embracing the modern world.

Ultimately, this journey has taught her that while transitions can be tough, they also offer opportunities for growth, self-discovery, and the creation of something meaningful. The uncertainties may persist, but through resilience, determination, and the pursuit of passion, we can build bridges that connect us to new beginnings and brighter horizons.
